A new SomiSomi location has officially arrived at the Americana at Brand, drawing crowds with its colorful, Instagram-worthy desserts and unique Korean-inspired twist to traditional soft serve.
SomiSomi is famous for its Ah-Boong, which is a warm, fish-shaped waffle cone filled with soft serve ice cream. Customers can choose their own fillings, like Nutella, custard, or red bean, and then choose from a wide range of flavors, from classic milk and chocolate, ube, matcha, and Oreo.
Since many Clark students live in Glendale, the new SomiSomi location also feels like an easy and popular stop for them after school or on weekends.
The shop is located on Americana Way and has quickly become a popular place for people walking through the outdoor mall. The easy, walk-up location adds to the Americana’s lively atmosphere. As the weather gets warmer, the mix of warm waffles and cold ice cream makes it even more appealing.SomiSomi originally was located in the Glendale Galleria in 2018. However, the store permanently closed in 2022, leaving Glendale for three years.“Going to SomiSomi used to be a limited experience due to it being so far away, but now people in Glendale can visit anytime as one has opened up in our community,” freshman Anaeis Zarokian said.
SomiSomi has been in Southern California for a while. The brand started in Los Angeles and quickly became popular for combining traditional Korean street desserts with Western soft serve. That the store has returned to Glendale shows that people still want fun and customizable dessert experiences.“It’s not just about the taste; the way it looks really fits the vibe of the Americana too. It looks great, and is also very photo worthy,” freshman Nicole Meghrikyan said.

The new dessert place at the Americana is similar to others, such as Salt and Straw and Venchi, but stands out because of its unique and visually appealing offerings that feature wild colors and fish-shaped cones. SomiSomi is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about places in Glendale, as more and more people stop by. It’s clear that the Americana has gained another crowd favorite, whether they come for the taste, the looks, or both.
