2026 has brought many new trends, along with ones that have resurfaced all the way back from 2016. A decade ago, digital cameras, bedazzling, and messy buns were in, and now these things are making a comeback. Bedazzling items have been around for a while, but influencers have brought the practice back into popularity. Bedazzling, which is gluing sparkly gems to any item, has become a popular hobby and interest among teenagers. Lip glosses, t-shirts, phone cases, and many more items have been the target for bedazzling, and the hobby is becoming more common day by day.
Bedazzling items bring comfort and pleasure to some people, but it is very time-consuming and require great effort. Placing each gem one by one may get irritating and tiring at some point, but the final outcome makes up for the long and hard process. Teenagers buy bedazzling kits online and pick out the specific color and size of gems that they want to add to their chosen items, and then begin the process. It can take hours or even days, depending on the size of the item that is being bedazzled, but that’s the trend! “Bedazzling is a fun hobby that I picked up recently. It takes a while for me to finish bedazzling each item, but I enjoy doing it during my free time,” freshman Sera Panoosian said.
It is interesting that this tedious process of bedazzling has become so popular among teenagers in particular. While the outcome can be very rewarding, the process of starting and continuing to bedazzle different items can also be very tiring. The outcome of this trend is, in fact, great, and allows an alternative for teenagers other than being on their phones. The process requires focus and attentiveness, which are great characteristics that teenagers should develop.

Nowadays, some teenagers spend their afternoons bedazzling things for their friends and themselves, and some people have even created a business from it. “Bedazzling phone cases and mini decorations are very entertaining to me. I offer to bedazzle things for my friends and anyone else who wants their items bedazzled,” freshman Emily Benyaminyan said.
2016 was famous for bedazzling, and people would bedazzle their clothes very often. Over the years, that trend died down, but now, with this new comeback, nostalgia has also been a valuable byproduct. Those who used to bedazzle in 2016 and who are now experiencing this resurgence of the craft may feel a part of their old selves coming back. This could be an opportunity to fall back on warm memories as the trend revives and thrives.
