Although only open for a few years, Aritzia at the Americana quickly gained mass popularity among locals. Despite its higher price range, the store quickly attracted the love of teenage girls and adult women alike. Praised for its high quality professional clothing, comfortable sweat sets, and waist-snatching body suits, the popular Canadian fashion retailer Aritzia was the perfect fit for Glendale’s Americana.
When shoppers noticed their favorite store tarped up, misunderstandings began to spread. Many questioned why Aritzia would close, when their business seemed to be booming. On the contrary, Glendale’s booming business is the reason why Aritzia is getting a huge expansion, not closing down. “Aritzia’s going to be closed for a bit, as it’ll be getting a major expansion and remodel. A temporary pop-up will be opening up until the construction is finished. We’re all so excited especially since they’re planning on building the A-OK Cafe here,” an anonymous Aritzia employee said.
Although a reopening date is not specified, the pop-up shop will help customers while the store undergoes the expansion. The Aritzia at The Americana is expanding into the space right next door. This gives Aritzia a better layout and a lot more room for a larger array of products including space for extra features.
One of the most anticipated parts of Aritzia’s revamp is the A-OK cafe. Instead of just walking in, buying something and leaving, customers can hang out, grab a coffee, and take their time looking around. The cafe offers items like espresso drinks, matchas, and pastries. Popular Aritzia locations with a cafe include Toronto, New York, Miami, and Boston.
Not every location has a cafe, but the inclusion of one at The Americana shows how the brand is trying to turn shopping into an experience. With so many popular cafes near the Americana, adding one inside the store could give Aritzia a more luxurious feel, similar to the feeling of the Nordstrom in the same location.
Aritzia has been focusing on opening larger, more open-concept stores lately, so the Americana remodel fits right in with this trend. Instead of feeling crowded, the new space will likely feel more free and organized, making shopping at Aritzia more enjoyable than it already was.
