Fremont Park is back and better than ever! It is officially reopening after a major renovation that began in November 2023 and finished in September 2025. This project has introduced several exciting new features, transforming one of the community’s favorite outdoor spaces.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, marking the park’s highly anticipated return, drawing students, families, and city officials to celebrate the occasion. The ceremony featured music, speeches from the Glendale mayor, Ara Najarian, and City Councilmember Dan Brotman.
The newly renovated park now features a modern playground with colorful slides, soft turf flooring, and inclusive play equipment designed for people of all disabilities and ages. Some of the inclusive equipment includes ramps for wheelchair access, ground-level play panels, musical stations, and swings that support children with physical needs.
The park’s upgraded walking and biking trails, lined with smooth, accessible pathways, try to promote an active lifestyle. New outdoor fitness stations also provide additional opportunities for adults and seniors to stay healthy.
For those who prefer to relax, the expanded picnic area features shaded seating with wooden benches and barbecue grills, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and weekend get-togethers. Altogether, these renovations make Fremont Park a more welcoming and accessible space for everyone, whether they’re staying active or simply enjoying the outdoors.
The renovation of Fremont Park also focused on sustainability and the addition of new features that promote eco-friendliness and energy efficiency. New elements include drought-tolerant landscaping, a type of gardening that uses adapted plants to minimize water usage, solar-powered lighting, and recycling stations, all designed to reduce the park’s environmental impact.
Students have already begun using Fremont Park for after-school hangouts and sports. “Ever since Fremont Park re-opened, it has been my go-to spot for soccer. I really like the environment there, and the field is really nice,” sophomore Tigran Minasyan said. “My friends and I have been going there almost every day since the opening.”
Fremont Park isn’t just reopening; it’s redefining what a local park can be. This new project created a lively and welcoming space that encourages social connection for everyone in the community.
