Clark ASB hosted its first annual food festival, Clarktoberfest, on Friday, October 25th, 2024 during enrichment. This event is one of the recurring staple events each year to allow Clark students to hang out and unwind while fundraising for the classes.
As always, boba sales are a frequent big hit with the Clark students. Seniors increased the number of boba purchased to meet the demand, but it still wasn’t enough, as they sold out within the first ten minutes of the event.
The two most popular lines, Boba Time and Crumbl cookies had line numbers in an attempt to reduce time in the lines. At this point, ASB has tried this a few times to reduce the time students unnecessarily spend in line before realizing that the item is sold out.
“We chose to sell Crumbl cookies because we knew how popular it was on campus. We’ve seen many Clark students frequently go to Crumbl, so we wanted to bring Crumbl to Clark,” president of Music Club junior Shawheen Balouch said. Music Club offered three flavors from that week’s Crumbl lineup: Milk Chocolate Chip, Pink Velvet Cake Cookie, and Confetti Milkshake.
Students seem to enjoy events like Clarktoberfest and Winterfest because it is meant to be a quick break from their mundane school life. Yes, students can go to Boba Time together and possibly pay even a little less for items that are being sold, but there’s just something about getting these food items on campus during the school day.
“Clarktoberfest is my favorite Clark event because I feel that it’s a tradition that sets Clark apart from other high schools. Also, I got to spend time with my friends while enjoying all my favorite snacks,” sophomore Arman Ghazarian said.
Without Clark’s hardworking ASB, this event would not have been possible. They began planning, brainstorming, and organizing the event weeks before it occurred. Though this is a recurring event, the challenge comes from finding ways to improve from the prior year, rather than repeating what was already done. For instance, this year Clarks ASB sold 1,000 more tickets than last year, this is approximately a 20% increase.
“Planning Clarktoberfest is a very straightforward process at Clark, however, one of the most important parts of the planning is determining what classes or clubs sell what items. We usually allow the graduating class to select their item first, and go down the list in order of seniority,” senior ASB Director of Activities, Lia Khodaverdi said.
This well-planned event was a great way to start off the autumn season and end the week. Clarktoberfest allows students to take time away from schoolwork and relax, even if it is just a 40-minute activity. Clark students look forward to the next food fundraiser. Let’s see what ASB has in store for us next!
