For many Clark students, finding a good balance between making plans with friends and saving money can be difficult. As high school students, most do not have jobs and depend on their parents for rides, money, and almost all other essentials. Sometimes, school hosted events offer a better alternative, providing a safer and cheaper way to support the school while having fun with friends. The first event of the 2024-25 school year was the fall movie night hosted by ASB.
A Google form went out to each Clark student to take part in choosing the film to be shown at the event. ASB students came up with more thematic, spooky, or eerie movies since the event was taken place on Friday the 13th! Tickets were on sale for just $15, a very affordable price for dinner and a movie. The students cast their votes and landed on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for the fall 2024 movie night.
As students entered the school, they were greeted by sophomore class advisors Mr. Khodagulyan at the gate and Mrs. Mardirossian at the check in table. “This is my first time going to movie night, and as an ASB member I got the pleasure of both enjoying the movie and also helping ASB set up for the event,” sophomore ASB beautification member Sabreen Ahmed said. The event was very successful, with over 200 students attending. “I was glad I could help and meet a number of my students that night. I was surprised to see more freshmen than seniors, when I was helping sell tickets for food items,” math teacher Bassam Abisaab said. After checking in, students started to sit down in the amphitheater and get ready for the movie to start.

Almost all students brought comfy blankets or lawn chairs to make themselves at home and get extra cozy for the movie. “Up in the amphitheater, I was selling candy like snickers, M&Ms, and most popularly the sour candy options. I had fun being with friends and helping run the event.” ASB junior class president Darla Abdessian said. The amphitheater steps were lined with friends huddled together in their pajamas, sharing laughter and tasty snacks as they settled in.
As the night continued and the movie started playing, students got hungry from the smell of the freshly cooked tacos provided by Pauline’s Tacos catering. The warm steam coming from the hot sizzling grill was drawing dozens of students to the food stand. As students waited in line, they got the choice of beef, chicken, al pastor tacos or cheesy quesadillas, as a vegetarian option. “The food was so good I collected my friends extra tickets to get more,” Junior Dani Stephanian said. There was a mini toppings section, where students got to dress up their tacos with rice, beans, onions, tomatoes, and much more.
As the movie wrapped up, lively chatter filled the air as students discussed their favorite moments. “I was skeptical about the film choice, but by the end, I really enjoyed it, even though it was hard to hear over all the talking,” said sophomore Narek Harutyunyan. Overall, movie night was a success, offering an enjoyable experience that brought the Clark community together.
