Ever seen the original 1990s show Sabrina the Teenage Witch, all innocent and happy? You might be in for a shock with Netflix’s new show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. This new adaptation of Sabrina the Teenage Witch is a dark coming-of-age story that involves a lot of darkness and occult.

In this new show, Sabrina Spellman tries to balance both her mortal and witch life while dark forces threaten her, her family and her mortal friends. On the day of her sixteenth birthday, she must choose between her two lives and she decides to refuse to sign her name in the book of the beast, ending her dark baptism and making the Dark Lord Satan angry. Her decision has consequences and she faces them throughout the season while trying to hide her true identity from her boyfriend and friends.
Other than the basic storyline, this show is nothing like the old version, it gives its own interesting and somewhat horrifying plot that includes a lot of twists added for viewer entertainment. The show also makes use of feminism as a viewpoint, showing us how Sabrina’s power, intelligence and bravery leads her to make choices for herself and help other women in her life do the same.
If you are a Riverdale fan, you will enjoy watching CAOS as they are written by the same writer, Roberto Aguirre Sacasa, who does a fantastic job in making every single second of each episode interesting to keep you hooked and watching. From the first episode, he builds a solid plot and includes action/drama to reel you in. The actors and actresses make this show amazing as they play their part really well and do not act fake.
So for those of you who have Netflix and haven’t seen The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, it is a must see — if you don’t mind all the references they will make to Satan.
