(April 5, 2012) — A new addition to the styles of rave music comes that of senior Eric J. Hakopian, also known by his stage name Wunderwaffe—a German term which translates to “wonder-weapon”—whose music is a mixture of house and trance. While types of house music often feature dubstep, Wunderwaffe showcases a fusion of trance and techno. His personal remixes of music that he enjoys listening to sound like Kaskade’s music, adhering to the energy of Tiësto. Hakopian channels his feelings through developing his songs; he translates his thoughts and emotions into music. He said that every one of his songs are based on his true emotions. Whether it is anger, jealousy, or sadness, the feelings just turn it into music. Hakopian’s style is influenced by groups and artists Nightwish and Skrillex. His first remix started off with a simple but head-bobbing beat. A good techno melody with occasional variation is there, but farther along into the remix lyrics are added to the scene, which builds on the emotion and vibe of the song. Another remix starts off with the same concept as the other, only this time the beat has a much catchier feel and sound; much less trance than the previous remix. Halfway through the song the vibe changes and turns into a more disturbed trance beat, and soon back to the original. A great aspect of Wunderwaffe’s music is that there is diversity not only within each of his tracks, but in his musical style as a whole with the way in which they feel. However, a pattern is easily caught with all of his songs. In the process of trying to become known more as an artist publicly-aware, amongst the projects that Hakopian is developing, he is currently working on a love-based song—which he will be releasing soon—and is going to be collaborating with junior Arthur Molina to work as a pair to help tune the “perfect track,” and release his own music onto Youtube in the near future.
