(Nov. 4, 2008) — For eight years the ever-changing Robotics Team has had one thing stay the same each year, a person who guided them with the experience he had from the previous year. This person was math teacher and part time counselor Charles DeVore, who left his passion as the Robotics Team advisor. “I’ve loved a great deal of what we’ve done in Robotics,” DeVore said, but he also said it took too much time out of his schedule. “Last year I logged about 324 hours, and I have had years that I have logged over 400 hours. On top of that, it takes up time almost every day dealing with contacts and communications with team members and mentors.” Right now the Robotics Team does not have a replacement advisor, but they are not worried. “DeVore has contributed a lot of time over the eight years, and he has helped provide us with a strong foundation,” team member junior Arielle Chongco said. “We are saddened by the loss, but I think the team can run fine after he leaves.”
