The Hollywood Bowl was buzzing with excited fans who were impatiently waiting to see their favorite artists perform on Oct. 9. The main act of the night was Abel Tesfaye, who also goes by his stage name, The Weeknd. He recently earned fame in 2011 after he dropped three mixtapes, which were collectively known as The Trilogy.

The ¨King of the Fall¨ tour didn’t let down the fans. The Weeknd surprised the audience with a big entrance by walking into the stage behind a giant screen which was projecting his face. The transparent screen then revealed the band playing all the music from behind.

During the performance, different videos were projected on a screen located behind The Weeknd. When The Weeknd sang “The Birds Part 1,” a black and white video of beautiful doves showed on the screen. Another footage of rain droplets were projected onto the screen when he performed “Gone.”

During his performance of “What You Need,” the stage was filled with fog and illuminated by white and red strobe lights. Strobe lights, fresnel lights, reflector spotlights and moving lights were also used in the staging. Other special effects, such as lasers and fog machines, added more to the production.

The crowd went wild and a wave of screams traveled throughout the venue when The Weeknd and his crazy hair came out on stage while performing his newest song, “King of the Fall.” After talking to the audience about his musical career and success, he continued to sing different hits from his two albums, The Trilogy and Kiss Land. The crowd was exhilarated when The Weeknd was performing ¨Wicked Games,¨ ¨The Morning,¨ ¨High for This¨ and ¨Wanderlust.¨

Jhené Aiko and Schoolboy Q opened up for The Weekend, performing famous hip-hop, rap and R&B songs.  Schoolboy Q performed many of his hits, which served as a great opening act for The Weeknd. He also brought Tinashe with him to perform “2 On.” In addition to Tinashe, Schoolboy Q also performed “Studio” with B.J. The Chicago Kid.
