On May 12, John Muir Elementary School held its third annual Spring Carnival on campus to help with fundraising. All families were welcome to join the event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m..

Tickets were $25 at the front of the gate. Children walked in to see an inflatable bounce house, slide and obstacle course placed on the field. Along with the bounce houses, there was a tall rock climbing wall and mini games all over the area. Many food options like pizza, hot dogs and iced coffee were available for those who attended.

There was also a shaved ice truck parked on the school grounds, which excited many children as they lined up to try out the different flavors. In addition, there was live entertainment with a local dance group.

“Muir’s Spring Carnival is a wonderful family event. The Muir Foundation brings in bounce houses, slides, and other kinds of fun for our students and their families to enjoy,” said Cheryl Cameron, Muir’s assistant principal. “The Muir Foundation is a parent group that raises money for the school. Their current focus is funding a music teacher, who provides classes for kindergarten through 3rd grades.”

Many families in the community attended the event to help support the school with funding and just have a fun afternoon out.

“I came to the Spring Festival to get some volunteering hours,” said junior Teni Aghasian. “I’m glad I got to go to the event and see all the kids enjoying themselves and having a fun time.”
