Clark students have fun and dance at the Winter Formal 2015.

With over 125 tickets sold, Winter Formal 2015 was a much awaited dance for the junior class. The ASB officers knew right from the start that it would be difficult selling the required amount of tickets in order for the dance to take place, considering that last year’s was cancelled due to insufficient sales.

The dance exceeded overall expectations for most people. There were a lot of compliments by current and former Clark students regarding all the aspects of the dance: the music, food, photo booth and fashion.

“I loved the DJs,” said junior Preny Alaverdian. “They played really good songs all night and that’s why most people didn’t even stop dancing until it was all over.”

The DJs played a variety of music, from English to Armenian and from fast-paced to slow love songs. The teachers supervising even got into it and started dancing with the students. “Mrs. Turdjian ran up to the dance floor during one of the Armenian songs and danced for a good 15 minutes,” said junior Aria Maducdoc.

“This is the first party that I am at with Armenians, and let me tell you they know how to party,” said junior Jared Ortaliza. “This event exceeded my expectations. It has been planned since sophomore year and the result of it is outstanding.”

Since so many tickets were sold, the PTSA went all out and made sure the auditeria was filled with food. “I was surprised at all the food they brought,” said junior Nazeli Gharpetian. “A lot of dances at other schools don’t even bring food, so it was great.”

Another popular activity at the Winter Formal was the photo booth outside of the auditeria. By 8:30 p.m., a long line of students began waiting to get their photos taken. “It was really great,” said junior Gennine Lagman. “There were so many props set out on the table for us to choose from and we could take as many photos as we wanted.”

Junior class adviser Jennifer Davis said that she was excited that the Winter Formal took place. “We have really great class advisers who encouraged students to come and bring guests and our wonderful PTSA moms who helped decorate this Midnight In Paris theme—all black and white,” Davis said.

“The formal turned out to be very beautiful,” said junior Timothy Cruz, president of the junior class. “ At first I thought the theme was very generic but as the days came closer to the formal I realized that it wasn’t. You get to see a fancier side of people that you don’t usually see at school. Many doubted that our formal wouldn’t be successful, but guess what, it was.”
