Right in the heart of Glendale, newly opened Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt offers a self-serve yogurt experience. This colorful yogurt shop’s Glendale location opened on Feb. 21 and has been pleasing customers ever since. When you walk into the shop, you are directed towards the yogurt bowls. The first time I went, a friendly staff member helped me get to the bowls since the setup was not like that of Pinkberry or Yogurtland.

Once you get to the end of the store, you enter a yogurt heaven with around 12 diverse and delicious yogurt flavors. They have the typical fruity flavors and tart flavors, but they also have nonfat and no sugar added options. My favorite type of frozen yogurt is the original tart, so this is exactly what I swirled into my bowl.

Until this point, I couldn’t think of what could possibly make Menchie’s better than Pinkberry. However, once I got to the toppings section of the shop, I knew that Menchie’s would become my go-to frozen yogurt shop. There are approximately 40 different toppings, so every customer will be able to find the perfect yogurt and topping combination. They have fruit toppings such as strawberries, mangos and raspberries, but they also have a great range of candy and chocolate toppings. My personal favorite topping that I only saw at Menchie’s is Jolly Rancher bites. In the end, I made a frozen yogurt masterpiece with toppings such as strawberry boba, mini M&Ms, and Oreo cookie pieces.

After finishing your yogurt masterpiece, you go to the checkout. Unlike other frozen yogurt shops, Menchie’s calculates the cost of your yogurt by the weight of it. Each ounce of yogurt costs 51 cents, which is similar to other self-serve yogurt shop prices.

The shop has a very positive and sweet atmosphere. Whether you sit in the shop or get yogurt to-go, Menchie’s is definitely a frozen yogurt shop that stands out from the rest.
