A new movie has taken over almost every box office in only a week of its release. This  record-breaking movie is called Gone Girl. The film was originally a best-selling novel written by Gillian Flynn. After receiving much praise from the public, soon enough the film industry adapted the novel into a film and it certainly lives up to all its expectations.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, who play the main characters in the film, are a happy couple whose perfect marriage has suddenly come crashing down. Nick Dunne, played by Affleck, is depicted as a loving and caring husband who one day returns home from a wedding to find his wife, Amy Dunne, missing. The following day, he is accused of murder.

Though the movie is three hours long, there is not one dull moment in this captivating thriller. The movie provides the audience with various questions which are not answered until the last few minutes of the film. The film is mostly suspenseful, but it has some comedy. Carrie Coon, who plays Nick’s sister Margo, adds comedic relief with her sarcasm and wit.

Flynn was a part of the team as a screenwriter. The film’s screenplay is phenomenal. It is very similar to the novel’s writing; Flynn does  a remarkable job of bringing this novel to life. The director of the film, David Fincher, adds his own twist, giving the already mysterious film an even more enigmatic feel.

Throughout the film you question if Nick Dunne really is innocent. The mysterious story unfolds beautifully. The film is narrated back in forth between Amy, the wife, and Nick, the husband. Flynn’s novel has truly been transformed into an even greater masterpiece.
