Super Bowl XLIX looks to impress

In one week, Super Bowl XLIX will take place in Glendale, Arizona. As most analysts predicted at the beginning of the playoffs, the New England Patriots, representing the AFC, will face off against the Seattle Seahawks of the NFC. The game will be a matchup of two of the best defenses as well as two of the best quarterbacks in the game today.

Tom Brady nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career will go against the up and coming Russell Wilson. The storyline could not get better. Will Brady solidify his résumé for the greatest quarterback ever with another chip, or will Wilson prove that he is a force to be reckoned with?

I think this game is the Patriot’s to lose. As the Patriots have had their best team for maybe a decade, they have to finish the season of with a “W” to make it all count. But Las Vegas made it clear on Sunday night by making the Seattle Seahawks the favorites by 2.5 points. Since then, because of the outrageous amount of bets put on the Patriots, Las Vegas has removed those odds. According to an article in the Seattle Times, there is going to be an estimated $10 billion bet on Super Bowl XLIX.

Besides the players on the field, two of the best head coaches go head-to-head: Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick. Belichick, long known for his continued excellence, is currently facing his own dilemma in another cheating scandal. The longtime coach of the Patriots was recently accused of deflating the balls in last week’s AFC Championship game. Brilliant, nonetheless, the head coach can face a major penalty. If the game came down to the two coaches, give the advantage to the long time NFL professional, Bill Belichick, to carry out the win.

I don’t see this game as a blowout like last year’s clunker, but a close and contested game. As both of these teams excel in defense, expect a low-scoring game. Also expect the Patriot’s passing game, best in the league, to eventually clinch probably Brady’s fourth and last chip. No matter the result, hopefully we will have a great game!
