(November 15, 2012) — She has her own album, she’s sung overseas, she has a concert coming up this Sunday and she’s in the process of writing a new song. Way ahead of the game is our very own senior Anahit Keshishian. Keshishian has been singing since the age of seven and only stopped taking lessons a few years ago. So it was a very clear choice for her when it came to deciding what to focus her senior project on. Keshishian will complete her fieldwork by singing to the elderly in a retirement home. And when asking her AP American Language and Composition teacher Conrad Pruitt about what she could have her final product be, he suggested recording and producing an album. “This would be a great idea,” said Keshishian. “Except for the fact that I already did that when I was twelve years old.” At that age Keshishian was traveling to Armenia for a concert with her vocal coach. Before going overseas though, Keshishyan had to step into a studio for the first time to record all of the songs she was to sing. It was a very rewarding experience that she genuinely enjoyed. “I felt like I was the real deal,” Keshishian said. Although being in the studio was a new and exciting experience, Keshishian says that nothing compares to being on stage. So as part of her senior project Keshishian has gone back to taking lessons from her same teacher. And as for her final product, she plans on writing and recording her own song and performing at Clark’s annual talent show. However, for right now, Keshishian will be experiencing the liberating feeling of being on stage this Sunday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium at 7 p.m. It is her vocal coach and Armenian singer Flora Martirosian’s concert, but it will also feature Keshishian and others. Anyone who’d like to attend must purchase a ticket from either Keshishian herself or via Ticketmaster or any other online ticket retailer.
