(November 29, 2000) — Jojo Wright, a deejay on KIIS FM also known as “Jojo on the Radio,” is claiming the title of “Jojo on top of the world.” In an exclusive interview, the top disc jockey in the country discusses his career as the top disk jockey in the country, his rising stardom and being a special guest on the Backsteet Boys’ Around-The-World promotional tour. Clark Chronicle: How did you get introduced to a career as a radio personality? Jojo Wright: I was living in Texas at the time. I’ve always had an interest in acting and radio. Being in Texas, though, there wasn’t a lot of TV/film projects happening there all the time, so radio started to click for me first. CC: How did you get into acting? Are you still going to pursue it despite your enormous success as the #1 DJ? JW: I’m sure radio, more specifically KIIS, will be a part of my life for some time. But I do plan to move into the acting/hosting (visual) world within the next few years. CC: How did you find out you were invited to join BSB on their 100 hr. tour? JW: I was contacted by The Firm (BSB’s management team) and KIIS management by phone. I was very honored to be invited. I had lots to do before I took off – get passport/visa etc. CC: What was your most favorite place you visited on the BSB tour? JW: Australia. It looked like what I always thought it would look like. Definitely want to visit there again. CC: Who is the most influential person in your life? JW: My mom and dad were my biggest inspirations. They didn’t force me into a career direction, but they certainly supported me when the entertainment field was what I wanted to pursue. CC: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? JW: My determination to keep reaching for new things. I’m very excited about what I’ve done, but even more excited about the things to come. I’m very thankful to my family and to the Man upstairs. CC: What are some projects you’re currently working on? JW: I have several TV projects in the works with my agents at the William Morris Agency. Can’t get totally specific, but very excited. CC: Who are your favorite celebritis you’ve interviewed so far? JW: I’ll give you several that come to mind because I’ve met some great people – Kobe Bryant, Jessica Simpson, Chris & JC from ‘N Sync, Howie & AJ from BSB, Enrique Iglesias. CC: What’s the nicest thing a fan has done for you? JW: It’s the little things that mean the most. Like someone just being genuinely nice. That’s something I can appreciate. I know it’s simple, but it really is what means the most. CC: What’s something you’d really like to do for your fans? JW: I feel really good when I can help somebody out when it comes to tix, meet & greets for an artist/group they really like, but feel bad when I can’t help. All I can do is do my best. CC: What are some of the best and worst things about your job? JW: Pros: I have a creative mind that can go absolutely nuts, so the creative freedom that I get is a definite pro. Cons: Early in your career you have to move, a ton!! If you want a serious chance in this business. CC: Have you achieved all your dreams and goals so far? What’s next for JoJo? JW: I’m excited about what I’ve done, but I’m no where near complete. Maybe I’ll never be satisfied with where I am, always going for the next thing. CC: What’s something you really want as a Christmas gift? JW: Playstation 2
