Panthers show pride with school song

(May 31, 2001) — Every school has one, every student sings it, every teacher treasures it: the school song. For the first time in nearly 40 years, Clark is in the process of making an alma mater.

Written by Music Club members to the tune of the original Clark alma mater, the song will be debuted at Clark’s first graduation June 19. Music Club Co-Advisor Judy Thomsen says the song is meant to begin a tradition and display school pride.

The new song is from students’ perspectives, reflects student experiences from the past three years at Clark and sets the standards for Clark students in the future, she says. The song is currently in progress, but meanwhile, here is a look back into Clark’s history with the original alma mater.

Hail all hail to Clark Junior High.

We’ll cherish thee and shout thy praises to the sky.

In truth and honor may we live defending right

That all may now true liberty and freedom’s plight.

The mountains high, our campus do surround

With gifts of God this valley truly does abound.

And tho our paths soon lead away to goals we set,

The happy days that we spent here we’ll never forget.
