Raffi’s Place has been deemed “the best middle eastern restaurant” by many loyal customers, including myself. The authentic Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine resides on Broadway in our very own Glendale. The family oriented operated business has been serving superior food for 20 years.

The cuisine first opened on December of 1993, under the ownership of Rafik Bakijanian. He and his wife were inspired by their love for real home cooking and created a menu of meals made from fresh and flavorful ingredients.

The restaurant offers a variety of authentic Middle Eastern dishes, including the famous Soltani Kabob (my favorite). Main course options range from beef, lamb, poultry and fish. The menu’s appetizers include traditional Middle Eastern yogurt and cucumber, tabbouleh, and hommus.

Not only is the food of high quality, but the proportions are huge and reasonably priced. The meat is tender and full of flavor. I personally love the restaurant’s rice, which tastes even better when mixed with fresh herbs, barberries or lima beans. The best part about coming here is knowing I will leave full and will have leftovers for the next day.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by hospitable employees and quickly seated within 15 minutes. The restaurant offers a delightful ambience and is decorated with Middle Eastern paintings, adding on to the Middle Eastern “experience.” Its seating area is meant to be reminiscent of a Mediterranean courtyard.

The restaurant recently expanded its space by building a state of the art banquet hall where customers can host private events. It is also in the perfect location — in the center of Glendale, just a few blocks from the Americana.

Just about everything about Raffi’s Place is superb except for the limited parking. The restaurant’s parking space is extremely small, so when it’s full, customers typically have to circle the block a few times to find parking space outside.

Nonetheless, the restaurant certainly lives up to its name. It is a top-rated restaurant by Zagat & Los Angeles Times. I definitely recommend you give the place a visit if you’re looking for not only fantastic food and excellent service, but also a dining experience and a warm family environment.
