Construction delays busses
Recently, there have been various construction projects all around Glendale, especially in La Crescenta. According to the City of Glendale website, the city is renovating pavements, conducting storm drain replacements, as well as doing concrete replacement work. The construction started in March and will continue through mid January 2015.
According to Susan Lockhart , senior administrative secretary, due to all the recent construction, some Clark busses have been arriving late to school, with some busses arriving at least fifteen to twenty minutes after the first bell has rung.
“In the past month, a few busses have been arriving later than usual,” Lockhart said. “At least one bus phones in every morning saying they’re going to be arriving late due to the construction.”
Some students have said that they are content with being able to miss some class time, but are also exhausted from the lengthy bus rides.
Prenny Zadoorian, a junior who rides the bus, says that her bus driver is almost always late to pick her and other students up from the bus stop at the corner of Glenoaks Ave. and Justin St. Zadoorian says that it takes much longer to get to school now and that sitting in the bus for so long is very tiring.
Arlene Haskins, the dispatch assistant manager for First Student, said that the bus company has taken initiative to find different routes to avoid the construction. “We know how important it is for students to get to school on time,” Haskins said.
According to Lockhart, busses 111 and 112 are the two busses that have been the most affected by the construction. The stop which is usually at Glendale Ave. and Windsor Rd. has been temporarily moved to Glendale Ave. and Chevy Chase Dr. in order to avoid construction delays.
