(October 27, 2011) — This past May, American Idol crowned its tenth winner: seventeen-year-old Scotty McCreery. Approximately 122.4 million viewers voted for McCreery and about 38.6 million tuned in to watch the winner’s name announced. McCreery gave a winning performance with “I Love You This Big” for the American Idol finale. That single, along with eleven more, is included on McCreery’s debut album Clear as Day . Clear as Day , released two weeks ago, has already reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. It is currently the most successful album from the past two seasons of Idol. Clear as Day includes the famous tracks “Clear as Day,” “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls.” The album takes us back in time to being a child and sitting down at the table for dinner, then growing up to be a teenager and experiencing summer love. In songs such as “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls,” country music is worked in well with pop and contemporary. True to the way most pop songs include some sort of romance incorporated with either a breakup or get-together, “The Trouble with Girls” actually combines both, and adds the country flare of a boy going crazy over the smallest things that a girl does. The album has a mixture of contemporary feel with a little bit of the old soul of country music. McCreery’s style of mixing country with pop can be compared to that of fellow American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Other songs, however, are pure country and might be enjoyed only by those who are fans of the likes of Tim McGraw and Hank Williams. Overall, Clear as Day is definitely the type of album for fans of Scotty McCreery as well as for those who enjoy country music. The album itself is very well put-together and includes a little bit of everything. Scotty McCreery has done a good job of producing an album that can appeal to people with different tastes.
