(June 10, 2011) — As prom came to a close at midnight, seniors began to scurry back to their party buses or limos. However, for most, the night was just about to begin. Whether it was in Palm Springs, someone’s house, or in a hotel in Hollywood, seniors made sure prom night would be unforgettable. Senior Arpi Arutyunyan and the few of her friends who went to prom arrived in Palm Springs at 4 a.m., while the friends who didn’t go to prom were already in the hotel room sleeping. “We decided to have a prank war while people were sleeping. [Senior] Nare Yousefian got shaving cream and shaved [senior] Nareg Manougian’s leg,” Arutyunyan said. Thus was the declaration of a prank war. Arutyunyan and friends even bought air horns to scare everyone who was sleeping in the room. “If you slept, you were guaranteed to get pranked on, so I stayed awake all weekend,” she said. Although she had little to no sleep during her stay, and received a noise complaint at eight in the morning by fellow residents at the hotel, Arutyunyan still enjoyed her after party immensely. “I really enjoyed the prom after party. It was a whole new experience because there were so many people sitting around and talking about the same things,” said senior Nancy Oganezov. Oganezov joined many other seniors at Daniel Madatovian’s house for their after prom experience. “Figuring out the sleeping arrangements was a whole other adventure because we were all so exhausted that even finding a small corner of the couch was a luxury,” Oganezov said. Although she was sleep deprived, Oganzeov found that waking up in the morning was the best part. Similar to Arutyunyan, Oganzeov played a few pranks on the last people to wake up by drawing on her friends’ faces. Oganzeov and friends concluded their prom experience with a big breakfast feast that included eggs and soojookh (dried sausage). “I think that overall, the prom after party brought all us seniors closer,” Oganezov said.
