( Jan. 20, 2011 ) — With two lead actresses that will blow you away, and with musical numbers and a plot that were truly spectacular. Trying not to be a spoiler for this film is quite hard. The trailers basically and my description for the movie are nearly the same, and are basically equivalent to the movie. The movie Burlesque which was directed by Steven Antin is about a small town girl named Ali ( Christina Aguilera ) who has big dreams of becoming a Burlesque showgirl. She never stops attempting to seek for the opportunity to perform both for the Burlesque audience and her friends and family. Sophomore Anahit Sahakyan said, “The movie was merely the trailer plus a bunch of musical numbers. I can’t say it was a bad movie, but I wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends to go and watch.” According to yahoo.com, Burlesque opened on November 24 th worldwide. The movie runs for an hour and 40 minutes, and is rated Pg-13. The amount of time it has been in the theaters, it has made $26,986,656. According to http://www.rottentomatoes.com , which is a site where both critics and movie goers can rate a movie, Burlesque received 79 percent of audience who liked the movie. 34 percent of the audience who watched the movie disliked it. According to the site, the movie was, “ Campy and clichéd, Burlesque wastes its talented cast (including a better-than-expected Christina Aguilera) on a movie that wavers uncertainly between “bad” and “so bad it’s good.”” Sophomore Serena Ter-Nersesian said, “I think the movie had some good musical numbers, and Christina Aguilera blew me away.” Ter-Nersesian watched the movie with a friend on the opening day, and says she would recommend it to her friends to watch.
