(Nov. 23, 2010) — Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr., Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are all great actors and actresses, but that doesn’t change my opinion because celebrities, whether they’re actors, actresses or singers, get paid way too much; it’s ridiculous. Some people argue that they deserve the money because celebrities have paparazzis stalking them, exposing their private life, but aren’t they supposed to get paid for their acting, time and effort put into the making of the movie? By entering the entertainment business, celebrities are putting themselves in the spotlight and they like it, so people need to stop with the argument that they deserve the money. They deserve some of the money, but not they amount they are paid nowadays. According to AllVoices.com, Emma Watson, the Harry Potter actress, felt sick when she learned that she earned $32 million. At least she has some common sense, and doesn’t let money control her life, but as for the other celebrities, money is controlling them. Super rich celebrities like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan have too much money that they don’t know how to make good use of it and it’s ruining their lives. I think we are the only country where celebrities make more money than the president. The president, who keeps this whole country in order, gets paid $400,000 a year when celebrities “earn” several millions for singing and acting. There are many celebrities who donate a lot of their money to charities and other organizations, and I respect them for doing so, but some of them want all the money to themselves. It is their money and I’m not going to hate a celebrity because they have every right to do whatever they want with it, and that’s not the argument I’m trying to make. I really could not care less how celebrities spend their money. The problem is that they are paid too much. Doctors, whose job is to save lives; presidents, who must run the country; and teachers, who educate the nation – all are paid way less than celebrities.
