(Sept. 30, 2010) — As many of you know, hit songs such as “Nothing On You” and “Billionaire” have hit the charts, and made it to the American Top 40. Those songs, like many others, feature one new artist, Bruno Mars. These songs have launched Bruno’s career and have made him well known throughout the world. Before Bruno Mars was known for his own solo-artist identity, he was known as Peter Hernandez, having had that name when he was born and before he got into the music business. As a child in 1990, he was featured as “Little Elvis” in MidWeek magazine. He also played that character in the movie Honeymoon in Vegas two years later. Later on, Bruno was recognized as a music producer who worked with many artists such as Flo Rida, Sean Kingston and Adam Levine. Since Bruno’s release on the songs with Travie McCoy in “Billionaire” and B.O.B. in “Nothing On You,” he decided to go solo and has currently been working on a few singles. His most recent song, “Just The Way You Are,” released on July 20, has been making its way up the chart. It is among other songs by long-time-working artists such as Taio Cruz and Katy Perry. “I love his music and his lyrics,” said junior JP Vergara. “I can really relate to them and how everyone else seems to like him too.” Although Bruno is on his way to the successful life of the rich and famous, he has recently been charged with a drug possession while he was in Las Vegas, according to Entertainment News Network 2010. “When I first heard the news,” said sophomore Chance Vandergeugten, “I couldn’t believe it.” It would appear that many young adults and teenagers were devastated to hear that such a young artist who has recently just made a name for himself, has made an upsetting mistake. Whether Bruno was at fault or not, students such as Vandergeugten and Vergara believe he is innocent and cannot wait for his tour with bands Maroon 5 and One Republic in October where all of them will be in Southern California.
