(Sept. 29, 2010) — During the elections assembly held last week for the freshman class, Annabel Moradkhani, a candidate for vice president, told her class to “stand up, move to your left, and move to your right.” Afterwards, she explained that once she had been told that if she could move the crowd, she could also win the election. Moradkhani and her fellow candidates campaigned by asking their fellow freshmen to vote for them, and by putting up posters on the campus walls. After a few days of campaigning, the candidates had to present a speech on Friday, Sept. 24, during fourth period. The freshman class filled the amphitheater, and heard seven speeches. The candidates promised to try their best, organize exciting events, and have an overall fun year. Arpine Ter-Hovhannisyan, who was running for president, used her slogan, “Let the fun begin” to end her speech. Aris Terteryan, also a presidential candidate, used the slogan “Vote for change.” After all the promises had been made and all the votes cast, the officers got calls home saying who got the positions. Terteryan was elected freshman class president; Moradkhani, vice president; Nareh Mirbakian, secretary; and Vivian Hovsepian, treasurer. The new officers for the class of 2014 will hold their offices for the year.
