(March 30, 2001) — Have you ever wished you could show off your high school campus to all your friends at Glendale, Hoover or Crescenta Valley? Have you ever wanted to show your parents the teachers that you always complain about? Now you have the chance to do so. Clark Magnet’s recently remodeled web site features a virtual reality tour, administration pictures and pages of various school programs. Clark students Arshad Samplewala, Babken DerGrigorian, Umair Shabaz, Artia Moghbel and Michael Lyons designed and update the new website frequently. The team has worked for over a year to add features such as the virtual reality tour (VTR) and will soon have links on the web site where students can view their homework assignments. They also plan to add a site for various clubs and programs available at Clark. The VTR shows every aspect of the school’s physical appearance. Places such as the gym, auditeria and the cybrary can be viewed without the use of plug-ins. The site also allows students and others to view programs available on campus such as the robotics team, ASB and the school newspaper. The team will add additional clubs and activities in the near future, according to Samplewala. “Students will be able to show club pages to their friends to show what their clubs are all about,” said webmaster and senior Samplewala. The team is currently working on adding links to the web site so students can use the site to retrieve files that they worked on during school hours. According to the web team, by next school year, students will receive their own accounts, have their own e-mail account and can have free homepages similar to geocities.com. With their own accounts, students will be able to send their files to an Internet server. At home, they can use their individual passwords to get into the server and download their files. Each teacher is given his or her own homepage where homework can be posted. Students can view the page by going to www.clarkmag.net/teachers/ , then type a specific name the teachers will give to their students. The homework pages are currently under construction. “Having another source for me to get my homework assignments is something I could really use,” sophomore Gaby Orue said. In order for students to get their own accounts, the team must add more server space and students will have to sign agreement papers. “With a password and a username, students will be able to log in through the site,” said sophomore DerGrigorian. Other basic features on the site include a brief description of the different companies in partnership with Clark, as well as photos of administrators and staff members. The school calendar will be posted to show all upcoming events. The site is now available at www.clarkmag.net . However, if trying to access Clark’s site from school, type www.clarkmag.net/index.htm .
