(March 20, 2002) — “Do you have to do that now?!” senior Sara Laue asks passionately to senior Sarah Ruiz. “You want that corridor or don’t you?!” Ruiz snaps back. Laue and Ruiz were two of the over fifteen students who auditioned for Play On!, which the Drama Club will be performing in late May. Auditions were held in teacher Verjinia Karnik’s room on March 12. “Play On! is a comedy highly recommended by [teacher] Stephanie Sajjadieh, and as a math teacher I couldn’t say ‘no’ to an English teacher,” laughed Karnik. The main roles have already been cast, but behind-the-scenes help is still needed, reported Karnik. Junior Tatevik Mamikonyan added, “Ever since I was little I liked acting. I liked being onstage and being in front of an audience. The tension in the audience doesn’t scare me.” Junior James De La Loza is directing Play On! and rehearsals will be held after school every Tuesday and Thursday.
