(April 26, 2002) — Why is the media trying to rot the minds of children? What purpose do any of the shows on Cartoon Network serve other than simple, thoughtless amusement? Why doesn’t Disney have the Mickey Mouse Club anymore? Is it just me or are the number of quality family shows and movies slowly dwindling? Now, let’s try to think back to the last Disney movie that actually lived up to the Disney Reputation. Personally, I have to go all the way back to 1999 to the days of The Lion King , when Disney still had its “magic.” Those were the days when the company was less concerned with targeting an older audience and more interested in the quality of its films. Cartoon network? Let’s not even start with that channel! The last time I checked, cartoons were supposed to be for kids. I mean, I sit down and actually enjoy the cartoons because of all the adult content. Exactly what kind of knowledge are these people trying to impart on our kids? That it’s funny to run around naked? Or that acting rude and dirty is socially acceptable? What are the parents of these disturbed children supposed to do? Wouldn’t it feel kind of strange to tell your kid not to watch cartoons because they’re too dirty? Thank goodness Disney hasn’t sunk so low, or at least not yet anyway. Dear students, and yes, even teachers of Clark, these kids are our future. Don’t let their minds be poisoned with the evils of television. Make that little sister of yours go outside and jump rope. Tell your son to turn off the TV and play a nice wholesome game of hide and seek with his little friends. Bad television doesn’t have to destroy our kids. Hey, maybe if enough people stop watching these companies’ offerings, they might change their daily line-up. I don’t understand what the problem was with classics like Tom and Jerry and Popeye, or Goofy and Donald. I guess they just weren’t dirty enough.
