(June 12, 2009) — The hit sci-fi movie series is “bagch” with its latest tale, Terminator Salvation . Despite the fact that the original terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, plays no real role in the fourth installment, the film was not as disappointing as some movie-goers would have thought. The movie starts out with a man named Marcus Wright being sentenced to death. Before his execution, Wright agrees to donate his body for medical use later to be revealed in the movie as Skynet, the corporation responsible for the war between the humans and machines. In the year 2018 the day John Connor feared finally came to pass- Judgement Day. He now lives in the future with everything mostly in ruins and humans in hiding from the machines. Movie makers make the story flow by continuing the story with an all new cast. Sitting in the theater, I couldn’t help but wonder how different this fourth installment was from the others. The first two movies were classics. They told a story. They involved daily people distracted in their own lives not knowing what lay ahead of them. As for the third movie, I have to admit the visual and sound effects definitely impressed me, but it seemed like the two latest Terminator flicks will never have that same intensity which the original director created. The movie was action-packed with loud sound effects, but the storyline itself differed with the relationship between Conner and the Terminator. The Terminator also had a love interest which was something unexpected. There were parts when everything revolved around shooting this and shooting that, as though it were a video game, and the friendship developed between the chosen defender of humanity and the chosen destroyer of humanity created a whole other atmosphere. This movie wasn’t made to be like the originals, but to show viewers how it wants to make its own mark in movie history. No, it doesn’t look like Arnie will be back to his most recognized role, but movie goers should realize that Terminator Salvation wasn’t poorly made at all. It has its entertaining moments with the visuals, sounds, humor and action sequences. Some may say it is too action-packed, but nonetheless I give the movie a solid 4 out of 5.
