(October 27, 2003) — Just one look at piece of his artwork and you’ll realize that Ruben Amirigov is a very talented young man. The humble sophomore doesn’t like to show off his works, although they are worth the time to look at. His unique work includes a collage of straight lines, jagged edges and bold pictures that mix very well to create something wonderful. Amiragov says he started drawing around the age of five when his dad forced him to take art classes and has loved to draw ever since then. Sophmore Matt Clemente says, “His artwork cannot be put into any genre and it’s truly unique.” Although he has some great artwork, Amiragov never entered art contests except for once in fifth grade when he drew something to symbolize peace. He won that contest. Amiragov is currently enrolled in Judith Craemer’s art class and although he says he enjoys it very much, he says he would prefer to draw his own. His set of characters include Evil Teddy Bear, which looks like a battered rag doll with humungous teeth, and Mr. Death, a suave looking grim reaper. Each of his characters also has a personality and some sort of background story as well. Where does he get the ideas for such characters? “They just come to me,” Amiragov says. “I just draw.” Amiragov is also working on a comic book with a friend of his. He says that they’ll probably work on the book some more during the summer because they both have a lot of schoolwork. Some of his art is posted on deviantart.com, where he can showcase his artistic talents and share his artwork with other artists around the world.
