(February 23, 2004) — On Feb. 12, while many were enjoying the PTSA honorary service awards in the auditeria, a very different atmosphere was developing in the gym. A local group of basketball players using Clark’s gym that evening for recreation were engaging in a game. According the Night Custodian II Davis Prosor, an older man was playing basketball and about three minutes into the game, he fell over and suffered a heart attack. An ambulance arrived through the field gates and took the man away where he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. According to Assistant Principal Dr. Joan Shoff, the unfortunate death does not affect the school, as the gym facilities were rented through the City of Glendale Parks and Recreation services.
