(January 21, 2004) — Over 50 people are yelling and jumping up and down as stage lights dance like a bunch of butterflies above each band. Above all, each member of five groups is singing, dancing or playing his instrument with much excitement. On Dec. 19, 213 Entertainment hosted and sponsored a two-hour concert held at Seoul International Park Gym in Koreatown. Three rock bands, White Crow, Briz and Corner’s Tone, one hip-hop dance group called Unbalance and a group of rappers named San drove the audience wild. Two Clark students participated in the concert. Seniors Bo Heo and Kevin Hong each played their instruments as members of White Crow with fellow band members from Burbank High. Heo plays the drums while Hong plays the bass guitar. White Crow performed five songs for over 20 minutes, including two of their self-composed ones called “Don’t Leave Me” and “I Am Late.” Clark graduate David Kang said, “They seemed like real professionals with the clear sounds of the guitars and vocals. They were really into their music and did not seem nervous at all.” In addition, Hong said that it was good to see “friends cheering [him] up.” According to Heo, White Crow had practiced for the concert for more than two months. They met around two times per week, practicing for more than four hours each time. A week before the actual concert, the band met almost every day. Hong said that his grades went down because he did not have enough time to study for tests after practicing. All he could do was finish his homework on time. Heo added, “It was tough, but what made it even tougher was that we did not have a right place to practice. Thus, we had to borrow a place whenever we wanted to practice.” This was not the band’s first time to perform in front of many people. They have also participated in last year’s Battle of the Bands sponsored by Burbank High, although they did not win anything that time. White Crow also performed in another 213 Entertainment concert Jan. 3, though it was smaller than the one on Dec. 19. White Crow was formed in September 2002 to play in the Battle of the Bands competition. Both Heo and Hong have been playing their instruments for two and a half years. They are planning to participate again in this year’s Battle of the Bands and are aiming for first place. The competition will take place in March with the location undecided.
