(June 4, 2004) — Swoosh, lift, flick. Just like Harry Potter, Clark/Hoover District Orchestra conductor Chris Kupka moved his hands and launched the Music Under the Stars concert at 6:30 p.m. May 19 in the amphitheater. The orchestra, consisting of students from both Clark and Hoover, played numerous songs including “Classic Overture,” arranged by Mozart; “ Symphony 7,” by Beethoven; “Cello Concerto” by Hayden; and the famous arrangement of The Lord of the Rings theme song. “I’m really glad we finished with The Lord of the Rings song because it really captured the audience’s attention,” said junior Kevin Venturina who was part of the orchestra. A few ensembles were performed, including a flute trio and a string quartet. Yet again the concert was, as sophomore Sarah Kim says, “great despite the limited number of stars present.” However, by the time the concert ended at around 8:15 p.m. at least the Venus star was visible.
