(January 25, 2005) — A chorus of metallic clicks echoes from Clark’s room 5213 as the seconds of tutorial tick by, followed by the blood-curdling screams of senior Illya Williams. What devilry is brewing within the chambers of ASB? As one enters the room, they discover trails of thin and patterned strands of rope littering the floor that trace to and end at the tips of rapidly shifting needles. Welcome to Clark’s spanking new and appealing Knitting/Crochet Club. Approved by ASB, Jan. 13, Knitting/Crochet Club held its first yet unofficial meeting, for it has not yet recruited members apart from those that had conceived the idea of the club. “I started knitting/crocheting was because I couldn’t find a beanie that was perfect for me, so then I made my own,” said founder of Knitting/Crochet Club, senior Patricia Ocampo. “Then I thought to start Knitting Club because my friends and I decided that since we knit at home and during school that we should start a club and make it official.” Without further ado following their approval, Knitting/Crochet Club has already established its goals. The club is aspiring to have each member knit up a square with their own artistic genius, and then they shall combine their squares with those of the other members to create an immense blanket. “We are going to keep it for future Knitting/Crochet Clubs, and it will be like our banner,” Ocampo said. Ocampo and the eight other members of the club are not all adept in knitting/crocheting; in fact, some are completely new to the hobby. “Ms. Provost doesn’t know it either and so we are teaching her and she is very interested, for she wants to knit some gifts for her son, Brandon.” As of late, Knitting/Crochet Club has met three times on Wednesdays and Fridays. Even though the club is still young, members are exuberant. “It’s awesome. I just love the fact that it is so hands-on and all these other people learning how to knit and crochet,” said senior Sandra Belderian. “It allows us to hang out with friends and learn a new skill, and become a more well rounded person,” added senior Sareen Kellzi. “I believe we are a very, very productive group and club. With the efforts of our labor we shall try to make clothes and donate them to homeless people. And we will just let people have fun and save money on clothing!” stated Ocampo.
