(March 2, 2005) — After the Patriots became the first NFL dynasty of the new millennium, and after a brand new Simpsons, Seth McFarlane’s second animated show, American Dad , made its Fox debut. Just as McFarlane’s hit show Family Guy began running out of steam, the gracious creator surprised fans with the pilot for American Dad weeks before the much-anticipated new batch of Family Guy . The concept is nothing short of animated nirvana. Combining his cult favorite plot portraying style and political criticism, McFarlane delivers mind-blowing takes on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The story revolves around an all American family, or what it would be if not for modern liberal variables. Stan Smith, who looks suspiciously like Joe Swanson of Family Guy , is a hunk of a husband: smart and agile, plus he works for the CIA. His trophy wife Francine spends her time on house work and on admiration of her husband. The plot thickens with the addition of their hippy liberal daughter Hayley, and local nerd Steve as the heir of the Smith throne. Not to mention Roger, a smoking and drinking alien who was saved by Stan from Area 51. And Klaus, a goldfish with a lustful taste for Francine, due to the fact that the fish harbors the transplanted brain of an East German Olympic skier. The show hit the sweet spot. And although it aired on Fox, a.k.a. Sellout Central, it was also aired on Adult Swim, thus liberating our futures from American Idol related propaganda.
