(March 2, 2005) — With their second consecutive intramural football title, the Bears cemented their status as Clark’s first football dynasty. The Bears took an early 1-0 lead and never looked back. They won 2-1 on two touchdown runs by quarterback Edwin Minassian. “It’s ridiculous how good we are. We played the worst game in three years and we still won,” said Minassian. The game was ragged and not typical of the caliber of both teams. Minassian believed it was the worst game the Bears had played as they had won their previous games by an average of three. As the entire roster of the Bears is filled with seniors, their departure next year leaves the door open for the juniors who fell short this year. Unlike the Division I game, the Girl’s Division showcased the best they had offer for the finals. In the girl’s division, the Raiders topped off their domination with a 5-1 win against the Patriots. In an interesting turn of events, Miriam Hernandez suffered a wardrobe malfunction in the previous game against the Bucs. This led her to scream out, “Not the pants, not the pants!” during one of her two touchdown runs against the Patriots. For the Division II Soph-frosh title, the Vikings defeated the Colts 3-1 showing shades of a team that can challenge the juniors next year. The Steeler’s Joseph Seong was disappointed about their loss during the semifinals because next year the sophomores fall into Division I and have to play the seniors. After being asked about the football victory, Minassian announced, “Watch out for the Tar Heels in the NCAA tourney,” referring to the Clark Madness Tournament that begins this week. Like football, the basketball intramurals feature three divisions. In fact, the divisional system began with basketball last year.
