(March 2, 2005) — Last Thursday, 13 members of Dance Club strode out from underneath the hallways next to the girls’ and boys’ locker rooms. After ASB’s director or activities senior Sandra Belderian gave a warm welcome, club members proceeded to, as math teacher Charles Devore likes to say, “gyrate” and dance. The dancers remained on stage, apart from random changes of characters in the routine, for about four to five minutes and then accepted their applause from an estimated 600-700 fans as Belderian cried out, “Give it up, c’mon people!” and exited the stage to grab lunch and soak in the glory of it all. Usually, high school dance clubs meet, choreograph and practice a dance that will be done at the school’s annual talent show. “But because we’re Clark Magnet’s Dance Club instead of a regular dance group, we have to do other things to get the school involved,” said sophomore Armig Khodanian. The Dance Club works every Thursday after school until 5 p.m., and had practiced for their dance at lunch since the beginning of the year. Now they will be switching up their routine to something completely different in order to dazzle the spectators at our upcoming Talent Show. “All in all, we were kind of messed up and our lead dancer wasn’t there, and also we were nervous. But the dance was okay. We’ve done better, but for our first dance it was okay,” said Khodanian.
