(December 16, 2005) — he daily trudge home from school for some is like the limbo between heaven and hell. Yes, you’re done with your long day at school, but that long arduous journey until you’re finally able to collapse onto your couch and engage in whatever form of entertainment or relaxation it is you engage in after school still remains. But more important is what form of transportation you choose to get you to your destined place. Some of us walk, some of us bike, some, the lucky few, drive. But somewhere in the middle falls those of us who have to take the Metro, which conveniently drops you off at the corner of Foothill Blvd. And New York Ave. Not just to get to and from school, but regularly in our every day lives. Sophomore Young Choy is forced to take the Metro to Burbank with his mom every week. “It’s so cold,” said Young. “The air conditioners are always on, even if it’s freezing cold outside. My mom always complains about that. Plus, there’s always all these people staring at me, and old grandma’s have to touch me to get up.” Young is also less than fond of the gum on the floor. Junior Monica Nava, however, has a differing opinion about the Metro. “I do like it because it’s transportation and the people treat you right. It’s safe, comfortable, and they give you good service.” One of the Metro’s only faults for Monica is that “sometimes, if there’s a lot of people at one stop, everybody crowds on at once and it takes a while to call a new bus over. But usually, the Metro is always on time.” With all of these aspects taken into consideration, many Clark students are thankful we have a school bus to take instead of the Metro. Sure, our complaints about the bus are rarely without claim, but when faced with the alternative many of us would have to take without this opportunity, especially when considering that the Metro costs $1.50 while the school bus is free. “Sure, it doesn’t feel very cool standing at 7 a.m. every morning at a busy intersection waiting for a big yellow school bus, and sure, sometimes after a long day at school the last thing you want to hear is a bunch of freshman yelling at the top of their lungs about nothing, but it’s still way better when you compare it to the bus,” said sophomore Ruben Rojas.
