(January 27, 2006) — Through the midst of the crowd’s clamor, senior Ania Muradyan, ASB Director of Activities shouted, “Put your right pinky on the left ear!” Almost 100 students from the ASBs of Clark, Glendale, Hoover, Daily and Crescenta Valley High Schools formed an enormous circle for their Twisted Circle Game—similar to the traditional musical chairs, but with a different flair. The Twisted Circle, however, was not the only activity that the students participated in last Friday at the Glendale District ASB Banquet. Guess Who’s Who and an open dance floor provided students with an opportunity to interact with other. For two years the district had not hosted a banquet, but Principal Doug Dall took the initiative to organize the banquet at Clark. The event was based on a black and white theme, giving the whole evening a much formal twist, even down to the coordinated tablecloths, according to ASB Event Coordinator Magdalina Asikian. The night was set off with a mixer of combining the students with different schools. Then students filled out cards about their age, best fundraising activity, email address, and position in the student government. This information was later given to other schools for examples and ideas for their own school. “The banquet was a way to get the different schools from the district to share their fundraising activities,” ASB advisor Kristina Provost said. The dinner menu included vegetable and meat lasagna, meatballs, garlic bread, salad and cake. The Clark students served the dinner while a video comprised of pictures of all the ASBs was played. “We were able to work together as a team and have a very successful banquet,” Asikian said.
