(May 10, 2006) — Sex is a word not commonly heard in civilized conversation, but in recent years pop culture has snuck this subject into virtually everybody’s mind. From short shorts to sexy dance moves, some sexual signals are more obvious than others. A recent trend in a lot of celebrity social circles is the sex tape; they can make an actor’s reputation or destroy it. From the Pam and Tommy Lee tape to One Night in Paris , sex tapes have become a significant source of income for the adult film industry. The newest addition is of famed Irish actor Colin Farrell. Along with Alexander , Farrell has been in such films as Daredevil , The New World and S.W.A.T. His newest film, which has had by far the most legal action, is his sex tape that he co-stars in with his ex-girlfriend and former playboy playmate Nicole Narain. She had intentions to upload the 15-minute video onto the Internet without the consent of Farrell. Farrell, who according to wikipedia.com , was going to sue Narain because the film was said to be “strictly private and confidential between them,” has dropped the charges against Narain but will still continue with his lawsuit against Internet Commerce Group (ICG), an adult Internet company, on July 21. A judge has granted Farrell a temporary restraining order against the distribution of the video. Students are baffled by the amount of publicity surrounding Farrell’s tape. “Whatever he does in private is his own business and nobody else’s,” said sophomore Alexandra Lemmer. The tape appeared on dirtycolin.com , which was shut down for mysterious soon after this restriction from the courts was in place. No comments from the famed actor himself have been made, but eonline.com announced that his publicist Danica Smith said that Farrell would take legal action against anyone who tries to distribute this unauthorized tape. In the end people can only wait and see if Farrell’s career will be shot down or take off.
