(June 19, 2006) — Although it started out as a hobby about four years ago, junior Anand Sharma quickly discovered a growing interest in web design and decided to expand his skills. “I love freelancing because I can serve the community, make money and have fun all at the same time,” Sharma said. Much of the reason Sharma’s websites are of such superior quality comes from his enjoyment of web design. Sharma says that web design is more of a hobby for him rather than a job, which accounts for his attention to detail. “Oftentimes people will approach someone who knows nothing about web design, and they’ll say that they know web design and can build a website for them, when all they really know is how to use FrontPage and tables,” wrote Sharma on his personal website. However, the difference in quality and professionalism that comes from web sites produced by such a person is astounding when compared to someone like Sharma who actually knows what he’s doing. Sharma now has an extensive and growing portfolio of work, and his clients include businesses and companies from a number of places in the United States and even around the world. His work includes Justmoon, a multimedia and consulting firm in Germany; Natural UI, a web firm in Orlando, Florida; and Arcadia Pets, a pet store in New Jersey. His portfolio also includes some impressive designs for personal websites he has made for friends. Sharma’s success as a designer comes from the fact that he takes great pride in his work. According to Sharma’s site, “that means that you won’t find any tables, inline tags or other horrible coding practices” on his sites. Although Sharma is capable of building a website from the ground up, his wide range of services also include redesigning current websites, graphic layouts and design work. Sharma also enjoys print design such as making business cards, letterheads and logos. Sharma’s site says that he also offers photography with professional equipment for those who are in the Los Angeles area. Sharma’s personal website along with his work portfolio can be found at www.dragon-labs.com.
