(November 1, 2006) — On Oct. 15, seniors dressed in their senior t-shirts walked down to the field after their panorama shot, expectantly tantalized by the scent of over 500 cooking hot dogs and the sound of strangely familiar music. As they rounded the corner of the gym they were handed pirate paraphernalia to the jaunty tune of “A Pirate’s Life For Me,” a theme which was decided on by the Senior Class Committee. The senior barbecue has been a feature of Clark life for seven years, each time with a different theme. It was started by ASB Advisor Kristina Provost in order to give something back to the seniors for all their hard work. Cutout pirate ships and treasure chests decorated the field while Pirates of the Caribbean songs played in the background. Staff members, including Provost and English teacher Carol Pettegrew (dressed as Jack Sparrow), passed out the food. Long lines to get the hot dogs, quesadillas and nachos made some students disgruntled. Despite the lines, the event allowed for each senior to eat to their fill; some ate up to four or five hot dogs. Many seniors said they had a good time. Most students sat with their friends and enjoyed talking to each other, expressing astonishment at the fact that they’re almost finished with their time at Clark. “It was a different experience,” said senior Arakel Aristakessian. “I don’t think I’ll forget it any time soon.”
