(November 1, 2006) — You’ve just dragged yourself into the kitchen for a piece of morning toast. You open up your crusty eyes to behold the bland breakfast, but something is different…your toast is exciting, it’s captivating—it has a moose on it! The latest innovation in the breakfast enhancement market, the Zuse Toaster Printer from INSEQ Design does just what its name claims. Attachable to any flat surface and activated through optical sensors able to detect the presence of bread, the Zuse Toaster Printer will spice up your boring bread by burning a 12 by 12 pixel image onto it. While it is not yet customizable, the Zuse has five images stored in its memory—among them are a moose and a ribbon—that it burns at random. With its silver and black colors, this 16 by 15 by 6 cm toaster is as stylish as they come. Once it is fully customizable, the possibilities of the Zuse will be endless. Burn on images from the latest episode of your favorite television show Battlestar Galactica , slap on a picture of the Virgin Mary and rake in some eBay money or promote your political beliefs by printing a hammer and sickle on your toast—anything goes. However, this masterpiece of Austrian design is receiving as much criticism as praise. Where is the limit drawn on these “endless possibilities?” Surely advertisers will soon grab hold of this technology and you’ll receive the warm reminder to “Vote Yes on Prop 87” while enjoying your bread. No worries…you can always cover that up with some cheese. The Zuse was showcased recently at the 100% East convention in London and will be available for purchase through www.inseq.net in the near future. It’s always refreshing to see that even breakfast isn’t sacred when it comes to withstanding technological advancements.
