(June 14, 2007) — Last Friday at 7 p.m., students huddled outside the auditeria as they waited for their friends. Some students walked in with snacks, blankets and a few even walked in with ice coolers packed with more snacks and more blankets. Others brought along their yearbooks for their friends to sign. Because there was still light, the images on the screen were barely visible, but the classic sound effects and voices of Bugs Bunny and the rest of the “Looney Tunes” gang could be heard on the loudspeakers. During that time, everyone was able to climb to the top of the amphitheater to retrieve food cooked by the staff. Hot dogs, nachos and vegetables were the food choices, although many people brought their own refreshments. By the time the sun started to set, the beginning theme was heard from the loudspeakers as the beginning credits for The Italian Job began to roll. “I wish they didn’t start the movie when there was still light,” senior Srbuhi Pogosyan said. “But other than that, it was really fun. They should have coffee next time.” About 30 minutes into the movie, the sun was completely gone and the movie was clearly visible. A few students complained about not being able to leave and come back with Starbucks after the movie started, but other students couldn’t care less and watched the movie without complaining. With the stars out, the cold air began to creep upon the viewers. Many blankets were brought out and the staff began to pack up the food. Once the movie finished, many people piled out of the amphitheater towards their cars. A total of 232 tickets were sold at the bottom of the amphitheater all of last week, making the night very successful compared to that of last year.
