(June 14, 2007) — Over the course of our four years at Clark, the metamorphosis we’ve experienced as people has been shaped, in part, by the changes that have occurred to our school setting and to the colorful assortment of people who have come and gone. From the awkward mingling of freshman year’s pancake breakfast to the last bittersweet moments of the senior barbeque, we’ve come to form bonds of camaraderie that will remain an integral part of our formative years. Just as the end of freshman year was marked by the coming of the office astronaut, Commander Clark, to our humble abode, junior year was also made more memorable by the tragic falling of our beloved amphitheater tree. On that fateful day strong winds forever deprived our seniors of the shade they used to enjoy. The senior-year stress of college applications was tempered, however, by the big win that our Robotics team was able to garner for our school. Clark students proudly placed first in the San Diego Regional competition with hot-pink shirts proudly proclaiming their allegiance to Team 696. The composition of Clark staff has also borne witness to many teary goodbyes. We will never forget the sorrow of sophomore year when physics teacher Dennis Henderson passed away, leaving behind memories of his good-natured spirit. The end of junior year was marked by the leaving of both U.S History teacher Ira West and American Literature teacher Diana McGrath, two people who’ve grown to become a major part of our third-year experience. And even as we prepare to graduate this year, we are confronted by two more retiring staff members: world history teacher Cynthia Nash and Assistant Principal Joan Shoff.
