(April 10, 2008) — It’s that time of the year that you’ve been waiting for. Spring Break is almost here, and what better way to kick it off than with Clark’s annual talent show? The talent show has been a fun and exciting annual tradition at Clark. However, students were disappointed when the talent show was cancelled last year. According to ASB President Julia Song, the electrical outlets at the bottom of the amphitheater had to be rewired due to the sprinklers wetting them and causing them to be potentially dangerous. However, the talent show is back this year and will take place tomorrow from 12:00 to 12:50. There are a total of 15 acts including one presentation. Auditions for the talent show took place during the third week of March in ASB Advisor Susan Giatti’s room. Some students were confi dent about their auditions. “The tryouts went well, I think we got in,” senior Jeffrey Salvador said. Salvador’s group includes, along with himself, seniors John Danho and Josh Kirkwood. For their performance, they plan to play a rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” remade by Social Distortion. It will be their fi rst time performing for the talent show. “I’m just hoping we do a good job,” Salvador said. Some acts are almost customary here at Clark, such as Indian Club’s yearly dance. Indian Club has performed in past years, and the dance is usually accompanied by music from Indian films. However, this year will be a little different. “It’s all girls this year because there were hardly any guys [available],” said senior Beny Babu, president of Indian club. Because it is an all-girls dance this year, there will only be eight members performing. Despite this obstacle, Babu is certain they will do a good job. “I’m very excited,” Babu said. “I know it will be good. Everyone seems to be energetic and dedicated this year.” Junior Hazel Anne A. Bondoc is one experienced participant in the Clark talent show. She performed for the talent show before in 2006 and will be singing the “Star-Spangled Banner ” this year. For Bondoc, the talent show is about more than just the publicity and the attention. “I like singing, and I want to share it,” Bondoc said. She saw her previous talent show experience as a success. “I’ve been singing for a long time and this year I’m just looking forward to feedback on my singing,” Bondoc said.
