Some things just never seem to get old. Clark’s school colored balloons decorated the lunch areas Sept. 11 as 310 new faces were welcomed with Clark’s Annual Pancake Breakfast. Some of the school’s faculty members came to help out with their matching aprons, and ASB volunteers also joined in encouraging freshmen to consider running for student office. On its eighthyear, the scent of sizzling sausages from the grill and stacked golden-crisp pancakes spread throughout the campus. First, a short assembly was held where the district’s school nurse, Kim Jarnot, talked about health issues involving free medical care and the lunch program. After this, it was finally time for anxious freshmen to wait in long lines leading them to their tasty morning feast. Freshman Marine Mirakyan was surprised at how staff members and older students welcomed her. “I didn’t expect people at Clark to welcome us like this,” Mirakyan said. While freshmen are still finding their comfort zones in Clark, freshman Christina Stepanian admits, “I thought it’s more of a strict school, but it’s really fun.” Senior Katharine Beghouzian remembers her own freshman pancake breakfast and is now looking forward to the rodeo theme at the Senior BBQ event and senior panorama photo, both scheduled on Oct. 9. Beghouzian said, “I hope we have a good theme this year and it’s a good ending for our class.”
