Piazza Mozza brings a taste of Italy to the heart of Los Angeles
Many restaurants have been adapting the way they do business as the dining protocols constantly change in Los Angeles. The Mozza complex in Los Angeles took a creative approach to these policies and combined their famous restaurants Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza to create “Piazza Mozza.” The two restaurants created a unique outdoor dining experience that brings Italian character to the heart of L.A. by combining their award winning menus.
On a recent visit, the string lights hung end to end, the black and white checkered flooring and Italian music illuminate the space and create an Italian ambiance. It almost felt like you were walking by the Duomo in Florence, turned the corner and found yourself in the midst of the most picturesque piazza on an Italian summer night.
Mozza perfectly captures the authentic flavors of a day in Italy. A vespa with the Italian flag color greets you at the opening and the smells of garlic and pasta fill the space. It’s a must to start your meal with their heavenly garlic infused toast and burrata. The thick slice of sourdough bread is soaked in the perfect combination of garlic and olive oil. It is topped with the creamiest burrata and drizzled with the most fresh and fragrant pesto imaginable. This is a signature dish of both restaurants and serves to tie the dining menus together.
Pizzeria Mozza’s award winning namesake dishes are their incredible pizzas. The Margherita pizza is a beautiful combination of fresh mozzarella cheese with light tomato sauce and a basil leaf. As you bite into each slice, you can hear the crunch of the wood oven baked crust and the delicious combination of fresh ingredients. Another amazing dish is their Bianca pizza. As you take a bite into the garlic crust the sage infused cheese pulls away.
Osteria Mozza mouthwatering dishes are their classic Italian pastas. Their signature dish is the thin wide Tagliatelle pasta provides the best platform for the presentation of the unbelievably delicious oxtail. The oxtail cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth and combines with the tomato and herb sauce. I find myself digging for the treasured shredded oxtail pieces.
With great customer service and flavorful food, Piazza Mozza brings the Italian influence into the Los Angeles area. It is a unique dining experience, and one that I wouldn’t mind repeating over and over again. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a taste of Italy.
