The force returns for the holidays

Since 1977, Star Wars has been the well-known sci-fi series that never seems to die out. From The Phantom Menace all the way to The Return of the Jedi, creator George Lucas never failed to go beyond our imagination.

It has been a decade since Revenge of the Sith, the last filming of the Star Wars series. This past year, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures decided to produce the seventh Star Wars movie, reintroducing ‘the force’ that has been originally used in the past six episodes.

Titled as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this action-filled episode still incorporates the original Star Wars elements such as space travel, alien-like creatures, and of course, light sabers, while adding a bit more comedy and suspense to entertain the audience. It is the perfect recipe for the perfect sequel.

The Force Awakens also includes a new line of movie stars in tandem with the old. Carrie Fisher reprises her character as Princess Leia, Harrison Ford plays the famous Han Solo, and Mark Hamill portrays the well-known Jedi Luke Skywalker, all from the original series. The new cast contains Daisy Ridley as the main protagonist Rey, John Boyega as storm trooper Finn, Oscar Isaac as Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver as the evil Kylo Ren. Clearly, each actor goes perfectly well with each of their roles in the movie, and J.J Abrams does a great job of directing it as well.

For those who are not familiar with the Star Wars series, this movie is still worth watching. It gives a summary of what happened in the last episode Return of the Jedi, then it leads into the new plot.

According to Moviepilot, this movie topped the charts and has set a bizarre record for receiving more than $1 billion in its first 12 days, beating Jurassic World which has reached that same goal in 13 days. But that’s not all. Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures are planning on creating the eighth Star Wars episode that is to be released in 2017.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to be a hit blockbuster, and it is really worth watching. The best aspect of this movie is the fact that it is able to combine the old Star Wars with the new and make an incredible story line that leaves its audience breathless. One cannot do anything but expect the unexpected for such an amazing production.
